2026-2-2Why Choose Retrofit Brake Lines?
A "hard pedal" isn't always about the hose collapsing; sometimes, it's about what's inside the hose. During heavy braking (common in mountainous African roads or spirited driving in Korea), brake fluid temperatures can exceed 230°C (446°F). If the fluid's Dry Boiling Point (DBP) is too low, it flashes into vapor.
Unlike liquid, compressed gas is highly compressible. The pedal goes rock hard because you are compressing air bubbles trapped within the system, not applying hydraulic pressure to the calipers. This is known as vapor lock.
Standard rubber hoses are porous and absorb atmospheric moisture, which drastically lowers the fluid's boiling point. The solution is a sealed, non-hygroscopic system using a Green Hydraulic Brake Line or Pink Hydraulic Brake Line.
PTFE (the material used in our colored lines) is 100** impermeable to water vapor. This keeps your DOT 4 or DOT 5.1 fluid at its rated boiling point for years. For motorcycles, where braking forces are extreme, our Motorcycle Brake Lines are specifically engineered to prevent vapor lock during aggressive downshifting.
Maintenance Tip: If your brake fluid is dark brown, it's contaminated with moisture. A full flush with fresh, high-boiling-point fluid combined with an upgrade to a Black Hydraulic Brake Line is the most effective cure for vapor lock. Need a custom kit? Email your vehicle specs.
